Book Review: The Lean Startup

"The only way to win is to learn faster than anyone else." - The Lean Startup

I am a new entrepreneur, new to the startup movement. I got the bug when I participated in Startup Weekend Little Rock just out of curiosity. But I met interesting people and had fun working on new ideas. This has led me to start working on a new business. And I know nothing about starting a new business. So, I am doing what I always do when I don't know something: I start reading books. Based on a recommendation, I started with The Lean Startup by Eric Ries. The Lean Startup was a great introductory book for a new entrepreneur, especially for a technology product/service like the one that we are working on currently. Coming from a more established business where process is king, the idea "lean startup" feels like a 180-degree shift in how I think about approaching planning, development and marketing: it is quick, it changes frequently, you send out less-than-perfect products and you are constantly iterating. It was a great read and one I recommend for anyone thinking about starting a business.
