The Sights and Sounds of Haiti

IMG_0333

I traveled to Haiti over Labor Day weekend (August 29 - September 2, 2013) with The Global Orphan Project. Over this brief five-day trip, we visited five orphanages and held hundreds of children who only asked for our love and presence. We saw both the poverty of the country and the beauty of the country. I made new friends and learned new things. I took a trip that was so out of my comfort zone, no one believed (1) that I was going to do it and if I did that I would (2) survive. Not only did I do it and survive: I want to go back. I returned from this trip changed and wanting to experience more.I took over 600 photos and videos, and recorded some of the beautiful sounds we heard while there. I let the children run around with my camera at each orphanage and they captured some great images. All of these are shared below (be sure to click through to Flickr to view all the photos).
